| Bulgarian Red Izmir is a sub strain of the original Izmir tobacco. It's columnar shape and growth is very similar to Izmir Ozbas, with plants reaching 6-7 feet in height. The leaves are a dark green and measure up to 16 inches in length and 10 to 12 inches wide with 22-28 leaves per plant. The leaf is usually primed, sun cured, and dries to a medium brown with a slightly richer flavor than Ozbas. It may also be stalk cured. It is an excellent tobacco for pipe or cigarette blends. This Bulgarian strain has a deep red flower and reaches maturity is in approximately 65-70 days. |
