| Purple Perfume is a flowering nicotiana often sold at nurseries as Nicotiana × Sanderae. It is actually a hybrid of the tobacco species Nicotiana Alata and Nicotiana Forgetiana. The plants start flowering in as little as two weeks after transplanting. They grow to a height and width of 18-24 inches producing a profuse amount of flowers all summer long. The flowers partially close during the heat of the day and reopen again in the late afternoon and evening, filling the garden with a sweet Petunia like scent. They are among the most fragrant of all the Nicotiana's and very attractive to Hummingbirds.
