Minnesota Midget Melon ( Cucumis
melo )
This delicious cantaloupe was developed for
gardeners with short growing seasons. It matures earlier than most
cantaloupe at 85-95 days. It's compact growing habit means it's also good
for a small garden. It can even be grown in a pot with climbing trellis.
Each melon grows to about 5-6 inches in diameter. The plants produce an
average of 10 melons each, with a very sweet and juicy orange flesh. The
melons turn a lighter yellow as they ripen. When fully ripe, the melon
will detach from the vine with ease.
Plant seeds in full sun after danger of frost has
passed. Sow seeds at a depth of 1/2" in groups of 3-4 seeds,
spaced 3 - 4 feet apart.
